The Never Ending Time Loop
Ever had a time in your life where it feels like no matter how hard you work, you’re just getting nowhere?

Something just always seems to go wrong. Whether it blows up, or burns down, it just hits you like a train, and wipes out everything you have in the bank, yet again.

It’s like a never-ending time loop. A real-life Groundhog Day.
Your life feels like a revolving door. No matter how hard you push, you end up right back where you started.
Whatever it is you’re trying to achieve, you’re just somehow stuck.
Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you just keep coming back to the same place.
It seems like life just never gets any better. It just keeps passing you by.
You look back at the end of the year, and you’re no closer than you were back in January. Only now you’re a year older, a little more pissed off, and ready to start all over again.
This year you promised yourself things would be different, right?

My Darkest Decade
I have been very successful in my life.
Not only have I been an action sports athlete, I’ve also built a massively successful business before, As well as these things, I’ve travelled the world, and lived in 4 different countries.
But…
…in December 2019, I looked back at the last 10 years of my life, in total despair.
I just couldn’t believe it. For the past decade, I’d worked harder than any other time in my life, but I had absolutely NOTHING to show for it.
It just didn’t make sense.
I had zero money in savings. No investments. No Success. No progress.
I’d had to walk away from my successful corporation in 2015, and not ONE of my new business ideas had succeeded.
I had absolutely nothing to show for a whole ten years of my life. It felt like I almost hadn’t lived at all, but I was still 10 years older.
And seriously… …HOW THE HELL did it go by so FAST?
One day at a time, like it usually does.
3652 of them, to be precise.
I’d lived 10 years of my life, working my ass off, only to produce a MASSIVE net zero.
Who Am I?
My name’s Rick Lowe. I’ve lived a pretty crazy life so far.
I grew up in an extremely poor working class family, in a British island called Guernsey. I was totally broke, with no education (I left school at 15 years old), or hopes in life.
At 19 years old my life was changed when I fell upon a new growing sport.
Pro Action Sports Athlete
In my 20’s I was an international pro skater. I travelled the world for free, skated at demos and competitions in front of thousands.
I even once set a Guinness World Record for the most amount of riders airing on a halfpipe at the same time, and did many TV appearances, stunt work, and interviews.
20+ Year Entrepreneur
I started my first ever business (a U.K. clothing brand) in 1997. I learned to design websites, and started my first eCommerce company in 1998.
At 30 years old, I moved to California, I started a small side-hustle business with just the change on my bedroom floor, that I grew into a $300K per year corporation in just 20 months, if which I became CEO, and ran for 8 years.
High-End Sales Professional
I’ve also had a highly successful high-end sales career, spanning over 20 years, three countries, and different industries.
With the lifestyle and the career I’ve had, I’ve been able to experience living in 4 different countries in my life.
I currently live in Southern California, with my wife and 2 children.
What’s a Net Zero?
A net zero in business, would be no profit, no loss, just whole bunch of work, for a big fat zero.
Basically, you spent just as much money as you made.
You worked your ass off, but no matter how hard you worked, you’re still exactly where you were when you started off.
Thankfully, net zeros are almost impossible in business…
...but in life, they seem to happen quite a lot. I don’t just mean money, either.
A net zero in life can happen with just about anything at all.
It could be that you work out, but you seem to just stay the same weight, or aren’t losing the fat you want to lose.
No matter how hard you work, you don’t seem to have any more money, or progress in your career.
You date a lot, but you’re perpetually single.
That business you’ve wanted to start for the past few years, but never manage to get off the ground, or find time for.
You’re trying your damned hardest to move forwards on just about anything, but you always seem to be making zero progress.
It seems like no matter how hard you work on this problem, you end up right back where you started.
Sometimes, you even seem to be making some real progress, only to get dragged right back to where you were, again.
That’s a net zero.
No loss, no gain, just sitting in limbo, wondering why.
A Hashtag to Live By
In January 2020, I was out walking, and a thought hit me.
For 10 years, I’d been living my life at a net zero. All I needed was a life with ‘no more net zeros’. Sounds simple, doesn’t it?
When the thought hit me it sounded pretty good. It sounded simple, kinda catchy, almost.
Sort of a ‘hashtag to live by’.
I smiled to myself about how smart I was.
I felt pretty smug, like I was so, fucking, clever. Perhaps I even congratulated myself in my head a little, and gave myself an imaginary award.
The thought felt so simple, I almost didn’t take it seriously. I mean, it couldn’t just be THAT simple, could it?
As I entertained the thought for a moment, I thought of a few ways I could REALLY apply this strategy to my life.
The more I thought about it, the more it made sense.
Wait a minute…
…what if for 10 years, I’d just been focused on the wrong things?
My Personal Transformation
I started looking at some of the things in my life with more of a logical business approach.
In other words, I looked at my life, as if it was a business, and applied the same principals.
I’d done this before, but this time I’d take a slightly different approach, focusing on one thing only.
Change any zero in my life, into at least a one.
Sounds simple, doesn’t it? I’m telling you, seriously.. …it is.
I asked myself daily, what small changes could I make to allow that one thing to grow, or work more efficiently. Small, slight shifts in the right direction.
If I did this in multiple areas so they’re working at the same time, I could greatly increase my chance of success. Because, if one area out of five failed, the other four would still continue to succeed.
The more areas I could do this with, the more ‘fail safe’ my life could become.
7 months later, my life had been completely transformed.
The changes I’d made to my life in January made an immediate, long lasting difference.
I took a 10 year net zero, and turned it into a 6 month roaring success.
What had started out as a fun thought, or a ‘hashtag to live by’, it turns out is actually a simple, powerful way you can change almost any results in your life.
To be completely honest, I had no idea just how much my life would change, until it did. The amazing thing was, it was an instant change. The more I lived by the ‘no more net zeros’ ethos, the more success I found.
After 10 years of struggling, I almost didn’t believe anything would work at all.
I’m truly grateful for the changes that have happened in my life.
It has literally been miraculous.
Inspired by COVID-19
In June 2020, I was inspired by COVID-19. I wanted to write useful blog posts, articles, and make videos, to help other people to succeed during those weird times.
I’ve lived through recessions, and experienced these financial changes before. Recessions can be very hard on your mind, your family, your relationships, and more.
It can be especially hard if you’re working from home.
There are different distractions you don’t find at work. Mindset issues, and other external things that can affect your success.
I remembered how hard my life had been during the past 10 years, the struggle I had lived through, and all the changes I’d made in January.
There was NO WAY I was about to let even a global pandemic ruin my progress, or take my success away from me. This was the turning point in my life, that made the difference for me.
The shifts I’d made in MY life, could be applied to almost anything in anyone’s life, that’s holding them back.
I thought of all the ways people’s lives could be improved, and knew I could help anyone, in almost ANY area of their life, to succeed, to move forwards, to get out of that rut they’re in.
I immediately knew what my website would be called, and this site was born.
I would help everyone I can, achieve no more net zeros in their lives.
So let’s get real here for a second.
Because, getting real with yourself is definitely required.
Let’s Get Real for a Second
